About Me

My name is Rebecca and I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and registered member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society.

My Story

I am deeply passionate about helping individuals on their paths to mental and emotional well-being. I am inspired by a genuine enthusiasm for supporting people through life’s challenges.

As a counsellor, I am driven by a deep curiosity for the human mind, our development and how events in our lives impact us. It is inevitable that we will all be affected by difficult challenges at some point in our lives and I am passionate that everyone should have a safe, non-judgemental space to explore this.

I am hopeful in my approach and I hold the core belief that everyone has the resources within them to; improve their lives, feel mentally and physically well and find their most authentic self.

I have experience working with anxiety, low mood, depression, work and relationship challenges, grief and loss, self-esteem, self-injury and suicidal ideation. I am open to working with any presenting concerns, however if I feel my experience and knowledge is not sufficient enough to support you adequately, I may discuss referring you on to somebody else who may be more suitable for you. My intention as a counsellor is only to help, not harm, and working beyond my capacity would be unethical and unprofessional. This will be discussed during our initial phone call or first session.

I spent time in a Mental Health Support role at Northamptonshire Mind, meaning I have an understanding of adult mental health issues and also of useful services that can offer mental health support. Sometimes, mental health support is about building a community and network around you, so my knowledge can come in useful if I feel the need to signpost you to further services to compliment our counselling work.

I have also worked for a young person’s counselling charity for three years, this work is incredibly rewarding.

Education & Qualifications

* In progress

  • A two year Integrative course with a Person-Centred foundation. This course had a large focus on self-awareness and development of the counsellor and clinical work (requiring a 100 hour placement).

  • I have a First Class (Honours) undergraduate degree from the University of Lincoln.

Modules included: Sport Psychology, Counselling and Guidance skills (Level 1), Community Health Development, Exercise Prescription, Nutrition and more.

  • Learning included: Person-centred theory, counselling skills, development models, self-awareness, difference and diversity.

This course had a person-centred approach and taught me the potential needs and requirements of an autistic person in today’s society (social, education, work, personal). This has really helped with my counselling and mental health support work as many of the individuals I see are neurodivergent.

  • I am currently completing this course.

    Content includes:

    What is mindfulness?

    The 3 concepts of mindfulness

    Mindfulness and the imagination

    Compassion and boundaries

    Mindfulness for others
